Cocobay Resort, Antigua

If you are dreaming of luxury holidays or hotels in Antigua, whether for a wonderfully quiet Antiguan vacation, or a Caribbean wedding or honeymoon - Cocobay resort has to be a most perfect destination.

It's hard to take in this collection of pastel cottages, which are set on the hillside within the beautiful surroundings of this Antiguan beach resort, enjoying surreal views, food to die for and reasonably priced to boot.

Head chef Nigel Martin was on the opening staff of the Cocobay Resort back in 1999 and has been a huge influence over this rather special, deservedly 5 star boutique hotel ever since.

Indeed, the more recent addition of "Sheer" - the hotels second and frankly exquisite restaurant holds a particular place in Nigel's heart and rightly so. We are absolutely certain that in Europe, Sheer would be awarded a Michelin star!

Unusually (and much to many a guests delight) this lovely hotel has no television, so leave your Blackberry at home, kick off your shoes and relax your sole in this quiet hotel that perches on top of the hills above the turquoise seas of Valley Church Bay.

Furthermore Cocobay is a stone's throw from the beach of Ffryes bay and a short walk from the shops, restaurants and casinos of Jolly Harbour - that's if you can be bothered to drag yourself away from this of course!

There are so many things to do in Antigua - the authors love it, but if like so many people you've dreamed for months of your holidays in Antigua it's certainly tempting to just stay here for the whole of your vacation in this beautiful 5 star luxury hotel in the Antiguan sun.

What we thought:

"Friendly staff, quite exceptional food and quiet secluded, pastel shaded cottages epitomize this wonderful retreat where some of the cottages are almost at the water's edge; children under 12 are only accepted over Christmas and televisions are excluded."
